Personal & Professional Blogging

Up until now, I've always kept a journal to reflect on my thoughts. Nothing satisfies me better than to let it all out onto a journal, rather than to bottle things up inside. As an introvert, the thought of personal blogging while allowing others to see my journey can be nerve-wrecking. However, I feel that trying new and scary things can empower and surprise oneself. It sounds exciting as I can meet people around the world and hear helpful their helpful insights.

Professional Blogging

I've thought a lot about how a personal blog may come hand in hand with a person's professional life. At first, it may sound conflicting. Shouldn't someone's personal life be separate from one's own professional life? Unless you're partying super hard and slacking off, I think it may not be an issue. Maybe it can be positive.

If you write your personal blog as if your present or future coworkers or boss may come across it one day, then I think that it will strengthen the relationship of the coworkers. Just as how being friends on Facebook offers the same interaction. We can build upon innovative ideas, projects, connections, and even host events. It may strengthen teamwork in the work environment or even help connect with potential companies.

Blogging for Future Students

After watching "Blogging in Education", I contemplated how blogging can be beneficial to college students like me. This article called "5 Reasons Your Students Should Blog", presented the idea that blogging can replace my stack of journals over the years. I can look back on my earlier posts much more quickly than a journal, and perhaps create a positive digital footprint. Blogging, though informal compared to an essay, can empower my voice, allow me to trust my words to make a change, and help me develop a "21st Century Literacy". As a student, teacher, and musician, I think that blogging is a great tool to share and give back to others. In conclusion, I feel that my blog can be about my personal and professional life, as long as I can commit to it and be true to myself.
